What is UGC NET JRF Exam Pattern?

Earlier, UGC NET exam was conducted in pen & paper mode and there were three papers in UGC Net exam. Candidates had to complete ugc net paper I & paper II in the duration of one and two hours, respectively. However, according to the latest notification of UCG NET JRF exam, exam is conducted in online mode and exam pattern comprises only two papers namely Paper I & Paper II. Paper I is common for all candidates, it covers topics like teaching & research aptitude, logical reasoning, general awareness and communication technology. Paper II is based on candidate’s PG subject. Both papers of UGC NET exam is conducted in single 3 hours duration.

It must be remember that it is compulsory for aspirants to appear for both the papers in order to be eligible for JRF and Assistant Professor or Assistant Professor only. UGC NET Exam Pattern Highlights

Exam Date:UGC NET Exam is conducted in the second week of July for July Session and third week of December for December Session.
Exam Mode:The entrance test is organized in Online CBT mode.
Number of Papers:There are two papers for the exam – Paper I and Paper II.
Number of Questions:Total of 150 questions will be there in the exam paper. 50 questions in Paper I and 100 questions in Paper II.
Type of Questions:The question paper will contain multiple choice type questions.
Language Medium:The question paper will be available in the medium language of English and Hindi.
Time Duration:Paper I will be of 1 hour duration while Paper II will be of 2 hours.
Total Marks:Paper 1 will be of 100 marks and Paper II will be of 200 marks.
Marking Scheme:For every correct answer, 2 marks will be given. There will be no provision of negative marking for incorrect answer.

Official website of NTA informs, "The questions in paper I will be generic in nature, intending to assess the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate. It will primarily be designed to test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate." Regarding paper-II, the website informs, "This will be based on the subject selected by the candidate. All the questions of Paper–II will be compulsory."

UGC NET Paper II Exam Pattern

In Paper-II UGC NET December 2019 Exam, there will be only Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). Let’s have a look at the exam pattern for Paper-II in detail:
